It is hard to imagine anything more devastating to a child than the loss of a parent. Wildflower strives to help these young families with a unique approach. It starts with the gift of camp!
Get To Know Wildflower
We invite you to watch our video to learn more about how Wildflower helps kids rediscover life after loss.
Camp is so much more than a fun adventure for families who have faced the life-changing experience of loss. Summers are often the most challenging time for single-parent families. While parents work, children need a safe, nurturing place to go. The school year has ended.
The experience of carefree summer days, the comfort of making new friends and wonderful mentors, a break from the pain and stress at home is an invaluable experience for grieving children and a much needed respite for the surviving parent. A child’s anticipation of another year at camp can soften the life stresses that come with the loss of a parent.
Long-Term Support
We help kids and their families rediscover life after loss. But camp is not all we do.
Through our Family Liaison and College Planning Programs, Wildflower provides sustained, long-term support to children and their entire family throughout the year, for as many years as they need our help. We make it possible for kids to thrive with renewed spirit, creativity and talents. Parents benefit, too, with valuable time to themselves—to heal, restore and rebuild their lives. Our sustained presence ensures a lasting impact on the lives of the entire family.
With a community of supporters, Wildflower has grown annually—thanks to generous grants and personal donations, as well as reduced camp tuitions and outside scholarships negotiated with participating camps and other organizations.
We invite you to learn more from our family stories and what people say about us. We welcome your support as a donor or a volunteer. If you or someone you know might benefit from our mission, we urge you to get in touch with us.
“Thank you so much for touching our lives and our hearts and giving us the gift of joy, love and new experiences.”
