Bereavement Camps
Camp Erin Boston
Camp Erin Boston is a free one-day camp for youth ages 6 through 17 and their families who have experienced the death of someone close to them. This experience is filled with traditional and fun camp activities combined with grief education and emotional support and is facilitated by bereavement professionals and trained volunteers.
Camp Kita
Camp Kita, a week-long summer camp program in Maine, is open to children, ages 8-17, who are survivors of a loved one’s suicide. In a safe and nurturing overnight camp environment, children can connect with one another to learn constructive ways deal with the often unspeakable and fierce emotion of losing a parent to suicide.
Circle Camps
Circle Camps are free one-week summer camps and leadership programs in Maine, West Virginia, and Georgia for girls ages 9-14 who have experienced the death of a parent. The experience combines traditional camp activities with age-appropriate grief activities. There is also an LIT program for alumni campers who can then apply to become counselors.
Comfort Zone Camp
Comfort Zone Camp empowers children ages 7-25 who experiencing grief to fully realize their capacity to heal, grow, and lead more fulfilling lives after the loss of a parent, guardian, or sibling. These weekend long overnight programs are free of charge and include confidence building activities and age-based support groups that break the emotional isolation grief often brings. Some programs include a parent/guardian component. Held year-round across the country, with primary locations in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Virginia.
Experience Camps
Experience Camps are free one-week camps children who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling, or primary caregiver. Camps are in Maine, California, Georgia, Hawaii, Maryland, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, and provide a place for kids to laugh, cry, play, create, remember the person who died, or forget the grief that weighs them down. It’s a place where they can feel that they fit in, because everyone there has also experienced loss and understands what that’s like. For many, it’s a home away from home.
Outward Bound for Grieving Teens
Outward Bound for Grieving Teens provides the opportunity for the participants, ages 14-18, to experience a one week, specially crafted outdoor wilderness expedition. By combining personal growth methodologies of Outward Bound with a simple support model that honors the griever, Outward Bound can deliver an intensely profound healing experience.
